This guy might fit in well in Venice: Pastor Ben Bailey  of some backwater church in Tennessee figures there is a biblical basis for stoning gay people, The Advocate is reporting. He also denounced  “things like women preaching (and) women leading in service.”

Meanwhile, in backwater Venice, it seems Mayor Luigi Brugnaro has capitulated to criticism from near and far, including from singer Elton John, and has whittled down the list of LGBT-themed children’s books he banned from local schools to just two, the  New York Times reports.

Though, one book seller has pointed out that Brugnaro doesn’t even have the authority to do that, the Times says.

I tweeted a link to our first article about the whole Venice affair to the mayor as well as to another citizen there who has been very vocal in support of Brugnaro’s behaviour.

His response to me — and why I know Venice might be a great home for Pastor Ben Bailey, and why he might be received with open arms there:
