Caitlyn Jenner: It’s just one vote

There have been several serious issues to write about recently in my other blog, which accounts for my absence from this forum for the past few days.

Scanning the LGBT news today, the first story that jumped out at me was about the Divine Miss M, Bette Midler, taking a poke at Caitlyn Jenner’s decision to vote Republican in 2016.

It does seem hard to believe that Jenner would vote for a right-wing party that, overall, is not very supportive of same-sex couples and is even less supportive of transgender people.

Will it make some people think all transgender people in the United States might vote Republican?

Hahahaha . . . Not a chance.

If anything, it will send a message to many that Caitlyn Jenner is not an official spokesperson for the “transgender community.”

I could speculate about why she might be voting Republican, but truth be told, I really couldn’t care less. There are far more serious things to deal with in the world today.

I’m filing this borderline news story under “Who cares!”

  1. If I lived in the US, I could never vote Republican. That being said, I don’t think anyone should be a single-issue voter. While I can’t really understand how Caitlyn Jenner could vote Republican, I can respect the fact that she obviously finds some aspects of their platform appealing enough to override any concerns about their anti-LGBT stance.

I don’t think it does anyone good to fracture the LGBT community even further, so let’s just accept Caitlyn for who she is and agree to disagree with her.
