Dame Edna: Trans people take the bait — again

QUEBEC — Transgender people took the bait again: an irrelevant fool mouthed off about Caitlyn Jenner, and trans people responded with a flurry of social media reaction. We’ve seen this sort of thing time and time again.

In this case, the so-called Dame Edna — one Barry Humphries — gets all sorts of free publicity with his comments about Jenner, and the yellow newspapers that splashed his comments on their pages get all sorts of reader hits.

Ka-ching, ka-ching.

Humphries is a dinosaur entertainer from a different age, with zero appeal to today’s audiences. So, he has resorted to what others have done when they seek the limelight: insult transgender people, because he knows that he will provoke a loud response from them. Humphries thinks that will make him more relevant.

I’m not going to comment further on this twit.

As for the newspapers that play up this sort of thing, well, it just shows how desperate they are as their rags freefall into the same chasm of irrelevance and oblivion in which Humphries finds himself.

I do urge trans people to be on guard against such obvious click bait attacks by irrelevant people like Humphries and the papers that run their comments, and consider not clicking in and responding at all to any of them.
